Creative Macau currently presents a photography exhibition entitled “Colours of Goa” at its gallery on the ground floor of Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) complex in Nape.
The exhibition showcases photographic works by Miguel Quental, which bring the audience on a journey to Goa, “once the capital of an empire” with a rich heritage of “vibrant colours, aromas, flavours, images and beliefs that transcend our imagination”, according to the exhibition’s information page.
“In search of this legacy, I set off for Goa, but the experience was much more than I could expect. Its ancient churches and other places of worship all display a captivating beauty, offering a unique and transcendent peace that goes beyond the spirituality to which they are dedicated,” the artist said.
“The stately homes, full of history, detail and emotion, resemble noble ladies, majestic and impassive, full of art and memories. The alleys of Velha Goa, Pangim, Margão and the neighbourhood of Fontaínhas all breathe and offer us a vibrant and almost magnetic heritage, which touches the soul and invites us to go beyond the historical and cultural memories that memory won’t allow us to forget.”
