A 36-year-old local female police officer and her 34-year-old boyfriend have recently been arrested for allegedly detaining her non-resident domestic helper in the apartment after finding out the domestic helper stole the employer’s money, reportedly leading to the helper’s mental breakdown and suicide by jumping off the building from a bathroom in the apartment.
According to a report by TDM, the domestic helper was found to have stolen about MOP 60,000 from her employer, a Public Security Police (PSP) officer, after which the helper’s passport and mobile phone were confiscated by her employer and her hands were bound with a transparent tape before being interrogated by the couple about the theft.
The employer and her boyfriend have been charged with aggravated coercion, deprivation of liberty and improper withholding of documents, according to the report. In addition, the alleged PSP officer has been put on suspension.
