Hong Kong’s Popular Filipino restaurant Cinta-J will close down on 30 September after 42 years of serving Pinoy dishes in the neighbouring SAR’s Wan Chai district, the restaurant made the announcement on their Facebook page on 25 August.
“Our lease has concluded, and the landlord is reclaiming the property,” the Facebook post says.
Located on Jaffe Road, the restaurant is known for its affordable and “classic home cooking-like Filipino dishes” complete with live music entertainment every night and karaoke, according to a report by TimeOut Hong Kong. In addition, Cinta-J serves some Indonesian, Malaysian and Thai dishes.
“[I] will miss the satay and gado-gado! Went there on pretty much every Hong Kong trip the last 25 years or so,” a Facebook user called Robert Fernhout commented on Cinta-J’s announcement.
“Unforgettable good memories at CINTA J,” Angelica Liwanag pointed out, while Solis Agnes said, “Sad, the crispy pata [is the] yummiest in town.” (Gilbert Humphrey)
