Lawmaker Ron Lam has advised the Macau Government to continue monitoring Covid-19 virus variants while gradually relaxing the city’s mask requirements. He said over the past three years since the pandemic began, teachers and students have been required to wear masks during classes, affecting especially the kindergarten pupils’ and other young students’ language learning process and interpersonal communication due to not being able to see the teachers’ and other students’ facial expressions. According to Lam, some school principals and teachers have expressed that wearing a mask in class affects communication between students and often leads to misunderstandings, TDM reported.
