Due to the influence of a southwesterly airstream and a trough of low pressure, showers and thunderstorms are expected to persist in the SAR over the next few days, the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) pointed out in its weather update on its website.
According to the notice, updated at 7:05 am yesterday, showers in Macau will be heavy at times tomorrow and on Tuesday.
The public is advised to pay attention to weather changes and take precautions against potential impacts caused by severe convective weather or strong gusts, as well as to follow alerts and warnings issued by SMG.
Convective weather is described as being cloudy with showers and thunderstorms due to atmospheric conditions being driven by the vertical rising of warm, moist air and the sinking of cooler air.
Meanwhile, at 8 am yesterday, a tropical depression was estimated to be about 1030km East-northeast of Macau and forecast to move Northeast towards the seas of south Japan.
