Decoration works are currently being carried out at the shops in the Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) in Hengqin, with the shops scheduled to gradually open from July, according to Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR).
The types of shops range from a supermarket, food and beverage, retail shops, coffee shop, Cantonese-style café (“cha chaan teng”), pharmacies, a convenient store, hair salon and banks – for residents’ daily needs.
Located against Xiao Hengqin Mountain and facing Tianmu River, MNN also brings together primary school, kindergarten, health station, seniors’ service centre, family service centre and quality living space.
In addition, there are residential car parks, outdoor children’s playground, clubhouse, tennis court, basketball court and green space.
Meanwhile, the construction of the secondary school in MNN is expected to be completed in 2026. The school will have an outdoor sports field, sports hall, canteen, multi-purpose classrooms and car parking area for teaching staff, among others.
Furthermore, the secondary school will occupy an area of about 20,000 square metres, with a gross floor area of 28,000 square metres. The five-storey school building will have 36 classes with a total capacity of about 1,200 pupils.
