The Macau Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) held a seminar entitled “Digital Innovation – Sustainable Development’ at MGM Macau earlier today in celebration of the “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2024”.
The event’s opening ceremony was attended by Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo Arrais do Rosário.
Established by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) has been celebrated annually on 17 May since 2007.
This year’s theme is the same as the title of today’s seminar, aiming to raise the awareness of how digital innovation can contribute to sustainable development in society, as well as encourage various sectors to cooperate to build a smart city.
For the seminar, CTT invited academic experts as well as industry representatives from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to discuss and share experiences on the topic, providing a better understanding of the driving role that information and communication technology (ICT) plays in promoting sustainable development in Macau.
Meanwhile, today the bureau has also distributed free commemorative envelopes for this year’s WTISD and offered commemorative postmark service at the General Post Office in the city centre, according to CTT. (Wong Kin Ang)
