Shell Macau Petroleum Company Limited (Shell) officially launched its first Shell Recharge electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Macau, at the StarWorld Hotel in Nape, on 3 September.
The launch marks a significant step forward for Shell in Macau, making it one of the first energy companies to provide EV charging infrastructure in the SAR.
The charging station is located within the StarWorld Hotel’s parking facility, featuring two fast-charging points and six medium-charging points. They support both Guobiao (GB) and Combined Charging System (CCS) charging standards and are compatible with a wide range of mainstream EV models, meeting the diverse needs of the market.
The station utilises Shell Recharge’s innovative EV charging and management system, designed to deliver a seamless and intelligent charging experience. Drivers can conveniently pay and manage their charging sessions via the Shell Recharge website or mobile app.
Shell Hong Kong Limited General Manager of Mobility Hong Kong and Macau Berry Wong said: “In addition to launching this brand-new charging station, Shell is actively exploring suitable locations to expand our EV charging network. We plan to introduce charging facilities at existing traditional fuel stations, empowering electric vehicle drivers with greater convenience on their journeys.”
She added, “We firmly believe that future mobility solutions should not only enhance the movement of people and goods, but also offer more diverse and accessible transportation options that support a sustainable future.”
Shell is actively expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging business in Macau, underscoring the brand’s commitment to delivering practical and accessible mobility solutions. As of the end of 2024, Shell operates approximately 73,000 public charging points globally across Shell service stations, roadside locations, transport hubs, and other key destinations such as supermarkets – demonstrating the company’s dedication to supporting the growing needs of EV drivers worldwide, Shell has pointed out in a press release. – GNM
