MPay can now be used when catching public transport in Guangzhou and Foshan, the Macau Pass company has recently announced.
MPay users can activate the service by navigating to the “Cross-Border Zone” within the app and selecting “Guangzhou Metro” to generate a ride QR code. Payments are processed in MOP, with exclusive fare discounts under Guangzhou’s public transport policy: a 20 per cent reduction after spending RMB 80 in a month, increasing to 50 per cent upon reaching RMB 200, according to the announcement, published in the Macau Pass company’s website.
Furthermore, the service is applicable for Guangzhou metro, bus and Foshan metro.
Meanwhile, since 22 March, the MacauPass-ChinaT-Union mCard – released late last year – can be used for payments to catch the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) in Hong Kong using the “Transport Link’ service. In addition, the mCard can be used to pay for public transport in over 300 cities across mainland China, wherever China T-union payment is accepted. – GNM
