The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has recently held its “2nd Cultural Festival between China and the Lusophone Countries” to further promote Macau’s role as a platform between the nation and the Portuguese-speaking world, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) – simply known as Forum Macao.

The event showcased traditional cultures of China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as the fusion of these cultures that exist in Macau. Among the activities during the festival were a Sino-Lusophone carnival, Portuguese folk dances, Cantonese Opera shows and Portuguese tile making, among others.

A student participating in the event said that the festival was “significantly” important as it provided the MPU students with a platform to know more about the cultures, traditions and histories of China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, according to a press release by the university.
