After a four-year hiatus, the Macao Open Badminton Championships will return this month with Sands China and Badminton Federation of Macau jointly organising the event that will take place at the Macao East Asian Games Dome in Cotai from 24-29 September, with a total prize money of US$210,000 or about MOP 1.68 million.

Held in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macau Special Administrative Region, the “Sands China Ltd. Macau Open Badminton 2024”, part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300, is expected to bring around 400 top players from around 20 countries and regions to the city.

The event shows the integrated resort company’s commitment in supporting Macau Government’s efforts in integrating ‘tourism + sports’, hence further enriching the SAR’s positioning as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, according to Sands China.

As the first world-class international badminton tournament held in Macau after the Paris Olympics, the championships will feature five events: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

Tickets are priced MOP/HKD 150 (24-27 September) and MOP/HKD 400 (28-29 September) – all free seating. For more information visit Sands China’s website.
