Times Higher Education’s (THE) “THE Asia Universities Summit” will be held at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Taipa on 22-24 April 2025.
Titled “Asia’s rise: A transformative journey in science, technology and innovation”, this year’s summit will explore Asia’s ascent as a leading hub for innovation in science, technology, society and research. It will also highlight the pivotal role played by prominent institutions in fostering a strong research culture across the region, according to THE.
The key themes to be discussed comprise “Science and technology institutes: Current landscape and accomplishments”, “Collaborative innovations” and “Looking to the future”, with speakers including Mabalacat City College President Michelle Aguilar Ong, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals President Muhammad Al-Saggaf, Izmir Institute of Technology Rector Yusuf Baran, Nanyang Technological University Teck Hua Ho, Tsinghua University Vice-President Bin yang, as well as The Chinese University of Hong Kong Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of Research Mai Har Sham.
Speakers will discuss how Asia’s economic growth – fuelled by investments in research and development – has created dynamic innovation ecosystems. They will also showcase collaborative efforts through regional initiatives such as ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), which are accelerating scientific progress, according to the organisers.
Organised by THE in partnership with MUST, the summit will also feature the exclusive live reveal of the THE Asia University Rankings 2025, accompanied by a detailed masterclass to explore the latest data and identify the best-performing institutions in the region.
In addition, the summit will host the THE Awards Asia 2025 winners ceremony. The awards offer a major international platform to recognise outstanding leadership and institutional performance, and to celebrate the continent’s higher education excellence in all its diversity.
