The Tomohon Market, historically known as North Sulawesi’s market for dog and cat meat among other unusual animal meat, such as bat and rat, will no longer be able to sell dog and cat meat after Tomohon city officials banned it recently. Tomohon is a city in the Indonesian province of North Sulawesi, whose indigenous people and its largest ethnic group, the Minahasans, traditionally eat dog and cat meat, although an increasing number of the younger generation no longer do.
