The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) issued typhoon signal No.1 at around 5:30 pm today as tropical cyclone Maliksi is approaching Macau.

As of 5 pm, Maliksi was located about 550 kilometres south-southwest of Macau, moving towards the western coast of Guangdong province. 

According to the bureau, the current typhoon signal may be replaced with signal No. 3 during the day tomorrow and Maliksi may make landfall in the area between western Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta area between tomorrow night and early morning on Saturday (1 June).
