The two-day “2024 UFI Asia Pacific Conference” concluded on Friday. The event attracted more than 300 MICE industry leaders, including exhibition managers, professional exhibition organisers and venue managers from Macau, Hong Kong, mainland China, Europe and ASEAN countries.

Representing Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) President Vincent U said that the SAR’s economy had recovered strongly, with an 80.5 per cent growth in GDP recorded last year, while Macau’s GDP this year is estimated to maintain a double-digit growth of around 10.3 per cent.

UFI Managing Director and CEO Kai Hattendorf also said that the MICE industry had developed rapidly after the Covid-19 pandemic and the association had been actively responding to the new challenges in the industry.

As a representative association of around 50,000 MICE industry practitioners around the world, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) maintains close relationships with association members in 71 countries and regions. Its main goal is to represent, promote and support the business interests of its members and the exhibition industry.

It was the second time that the UFI Asia Pacific Conference was held in Macau, the first being in 2008.
