The 39th Portuguese Language Summer Programme at the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Arts and Humanities has begun, attracting over 400 participants from around the world, including mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia and Timor-Leste, giving the participants a blend of language learning with insights into the history and culture of Portuguese-speaking countries.

Launched in 1986, this programme is UM’s longest-standing programme, which fosters global connections, according to Vice Rector Rui Martins. Over three weeks since the 39th edition was launched recently, the participants will learn Portuguese language and culture through interactive classes and cultural activities, including capoeira and folk dancing.

This year’s Portuguese Language Summer Programme is supported by the Macao Foundation (FM), Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), as well as Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT). (Kaira Sam)
