Macao Water is organising its “Water.Color Drawing Contest” as part of the utility company’s 90th anniversary celebration series and the contest’s registration deadline has been extended to 10 October.
Coordinated by Macau Artist Society, the contest uses painting as a medium to encourage creativity among parents, children and teenagers. Participants are invited to take part “during family time or moments of reflection, using brushes and colours to express memories or impressions related to water, as well as visions of sustainable development that connect water with the city”, according to the contest’s online flyer.
Participants can choose one of two themes:
- Woven Moments, Journeying Together (special memories or impressions related to the participant and potable water).
- Water Nourishes All Beings, Weaving a Tapestry of Harmony (Ideas related to potable water, life, climate, environment, society and the future).
The contest is divided into three categories: Parent-Child Group (a parent and a child aged 3-6, both holding either a Macau Permanent Resident ID Card or a Non-Permanent Resident ID Card), Primary School Group (students enrolled in local primary schools from grades 1-6, holding a Macau student ID card) and Secondary School Group (students enrolled in local secondary schools from grades 1-6, holding a Macau student ID card).
Each participant may only choose one category to compete and is only allowed to submit one entry.
Winners will receive awards and cash prizes: champion (MOP 2,000), 1st Runner-Up (MOP 1,500), 2nd Runner-Up (MOP 1,000), as well as five Merit Awards (MOP 500 each) and an Online Popularity Award (MOP 1,000).
