A University of Macau (UM) delegation, led by Lai Neng, dean of the university’s Honours College (HC), Loi Chi Ho, associate dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, and Miao Li, head of the UM’s Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management, recently visited top universities in the United Kingdom to discuss about collaborations in student exchange and research.
The universities included the prestigious University of Cambridge, the world’s third oldest university in continuous operation, Imperial College London, University of Bristol, University of Bath, University of Surrey and Queen Mary University of London.
Another UM delegation, led by UM’s Faculty of Social Sciences Hu Weixing and Global Affairs Office Director Wang Ruibing, also recently visited several top research institutions and universities in Brazil – including Fundação Getulio Vargas, University of São Paulo, State University of Campinas, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro – to establish closer cooperation, optimise and expand exchange programmes for students and faculty, promote collaboration in innovative research, build bilateral or multilateral cooperation platforms, as well as jointly hold academic conferences and other educational activities.
Meanwhile, UM Rector Yonghua Song led another delegation visiting several universities across Europe to explore cooperation in teaching and research. The universities visited by the Song’s delegation included University of Coimbra and University of Porto in Portugal; University of Barcelona, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Spain; as well as Technische Universität Dresden and Technische Universität Berlin in Germany.
