Representatives of Macau’s Consumer Council (CC) attended the Consumers International Global Congress 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya from 6-8 December, during which they participated in meetings and panel discussions, such as on new policies on global consumer protection.

In addition, CC President Leong Pek San met with Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (FOMCA) President Marimuthu Nadason – who was elected the new president of the Consumers International during the Nairobi congress – to discuss on the possibility of signing a cooperation agreement aiming to strengthen the work on consumer protection, among others.

Founded in 1960, the Consumers International is a global non-profit organisation with over 200 member organisations in more than 100 countries and regions. Macau’s Consumer Council became a full member of the Consumers International in 1997 and can exercise its right to vote on matters at the Consumers International General Assembly and elect the president. The Consumers International Global Congress is held every four years.
