The Municipal Affairs Bureau’s (IAM) Volunteer Team held community care activities for the members of Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau in recently.
The community care activities were aimed at deepening the understanding between the volunteers and the association’s members.
Around 70 people, comprising the IAM Volunteer Team and the association’s members, joined the activities that included dancing and singing, recreational group games, as well as a children’s dance performance.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the IAM Volunteer Team’s establishment. Over the years, the team has taken part in many social services, such as family visits, repair of domestic water and electric equipment, as well as organising various community care activities. In total, the team has served over 6,500 vulnerable or disadvantaged people, according to the bureau.
IAM Volunteer Team members also provide Macau’s vulnerable or disadvantaged groups – such as the disabled and the elderlies – with services like replacing electrical switches, cables, plugs, residual current devices, taps, hinges of windows and doors, as well as handrail installation.
