The “Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region – 2024 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon” was held on Sunday, with Ethiopian marathoner Fikadu Debele (pictured, main photo) defending his men’s full marathon title while Russia’s Alexandra Mozorova won the women’s title.
The event was jointly organised by the Sports Bureau (ID), Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) and the General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM), comprising full, half and mini-marathon courses.
The marathon and half-marathon courses began at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium and ran along the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, passed by the A-Ma Temple, and ran along the Sai Van Bridge.
Meanwhile, in the Macau athlete category, the top three in the men’s marathon were Wang Kun, Fong Ieng Wai and Leong Kin Kei, while the top three Macau athletes in the women’s marathon were Wu Yangyang, Chio Tong Tong and Xu Zhonghuang.
Meanwhile, the winning organisations of the Active Group Trophies are Care Action Macao (Sport Association and Government Registered Organisation) and GEG (Public and Private Entities), while 73-year-old Qi Zhirong won the Senior Trophy.
