The Philippines’ Office of Civil Defence (OCD) said on Wednesday torrential rains and floods from low-pressure area, shear line and northeast monsoon that hit several parts of the country since early January have caused PHP1.26 billion worth of damage to agriculture and infrastructure. The affected areas include Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen and Caraga, with around 1,780 houses damaged and more than three dozen fatalities. In addition, over nearly 476,000 families have been affected by the effects of bad weather, the Philippine News Agency (PNA) reported.
