Some people in Macau were surprised by gravel-sized hailstones dumped over Macau by a thunderstorm last night.
The hailstorm lasted for about 15 minutes after about 9:10 pm.
A local resident surnamed Wong, who was dining with his wife at Don Quijote de la Mancha restaurant in Taipa Village, when the hailstorm happened. He, along with other guests in the restaurant, quickly rushed to the door to see the gravel-like solid precipitation.
“It’s a bit scary. It looks like having small stones thrown at you,” he told Good News Macau.
A local homemaker named Jenita said she was having dinner with family at home when they began to hear the hailstones hitting their window. “It was the first time in my life to see hailstones,” she said.
On Saturday, a tornado hit Guangzhou and its surrounding areas, bringing heavy hailstorms. At least five people were killed while 33 others injured due to the weather condition that also damaged more than 140 factory buildings, according to TDM. (Wong Kin Ang)
