Macau’s newest mall, M8, will have its soft opening on 10 September, according to its developers.

Located behind the Macau General Post Office in the city centre, the M8 building stands where Italian sculptor and engineer Oseo Leopoldo Goffredo Acconci designed and built a postal workers’ dormitory, which was then converted into a private residential building in 1985, according to Elegance Plus.

The M8 mall is situated about 50 metres from the city’s famous Senado Square, in the corner of Travessa do Roquete and Rua da Sé, which connects to Macau’s Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady.

The historical building’s rebirth began in 2018, with investment and construction by China Construction Engineering (Macau) Limited. The project is jointly developed by China Construction Engineering (Macau) Limited and the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT).

The nine-storey shopping complex has a total area of 80,000 square feet and will have various shops and dining venues, including luxury retailer DFS Group.
