The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election has issued a notice confirming Sam Hou Fai, former president of the Court of Final Appeal of the Macau SAR, as the accepted candidate for Macau’s upcoming Chief Executive (CE) election, and he is now scheduled to present his political platform on 28 September.
The 28 September session will be broadcast live on TDM TV and radio channels, as well as online via several websites and social media platforms.
The “presentation and question-and-answer session on the political platform of the candidate of the post of Chief Executive” will be hosted by the Electoral Affairs Commission for the CE Election at the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex from 10 am to 1 pm next Saturday.
The Electoral Affairs Commission had previously completed an eligibility review of the only application received for becoming a candidate for the CE post. Subsequently, the commission published on 18 September a list featuring the accepted candidate for the CE election, as well as the list of members of the CE Election Committee that nominated him.
The commission did not receive any objections within one day of announcing its decision on the eligibility of the nominated individual. As such, and according to the relevant provisions of the CE Election Law, the Electoral Affairs Commission issued a notice announcing the final list of the accepted candidate for the CE election.
Meanwhile, the CE Election will be held on 13 October. According to the CE Election Law, the official campaigning period will run from after the stroke of midnight on 28 September until the stroke of midnight on 11 October.
