People’s Republic of China (PRC) President Xi Jinping, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC, is scheduled to be in Macau from 18-20 December to attend the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland, according to the Government Information Bureau (GCS).

In addition, Xi will also be attending the inauguration ceremony of the 6th Government of the Macau SAR.

Macau returned to the motherland from former Portuguese administration on 20 December 1999, on which the Chinese city officially became a special administrative region.

The Macau SAR’s new government – the sixth term since the SAR’s establishment – will begin its tenure on 20 December this year, headed by the city’s new chief executive, Sam Hou Fai.
