In a bid to attract tourists, Taiwan is planning to give out NT$5,000 (around US$165) to 500,000 individual tourists and up to NT$20,000 (around US$665) to 90,000 tour groups arriving on the island. The promotional fund will be given out digitally after the tourists arrive and it can be used for expenses during their stay there, such as food and accommodation, as reported by Taipei Times.
However, details on how tourists can register to get the promotional fund or when it will be made available to incoming tourists have not been announced.
The promotional campaign is particularly targeted at visitors from key markets like Macau, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, US, as well as various countries in Southeast Asia and Europe.
