The number of Internet users in Macau last year rose by 13,000, a year-on-year increase of 2.2 per cent to 610,300, with over 91.4 per cent of them using the Internet daily, according to data from the city’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
The data also shows that there were 200,200 households with Internet access in 2024, accounting for 97.7 per cent of the total households in Macau (205,000) – an increase of 0.4 percentage points year-on-year.
Furthermore, the proportion of households accessing the Internet via mobile network (198,900) increased by 0.6 percentage points to 99.4 per cent, while Internet penetration rate rose by 1.2 percentage points to 9.4 per cent, with the city’s elderly population – aged 65 and above – showing the largest year-on-year growth of 3.5 percentage points in Internet penetration rate to 81.3 per cent, according to DSEC.
