The Islands Healthcare Complex – Macao Medical Center of Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) has expanded medical services within the first six months of operation since it was officially opened to the public on 16 September 2024.

By the end of February this year, the number of specialty outpatient clinics had expanded to 52, with the daily appointments for specialty outpatient services having increased by 50 per cent from when it first opened to meet the growing healthcare demand of Macau’s residents, according to the Cotai hospital.

Since 17 March, the Macao Medical Center of PUMCH has further widened the scope of its specialty outpatient services, with non-resident workers as well as others holding long-term stay permits like student visas and special stay permits also able to register for medical treatment at the hospital. Details about the Macao Medical Center of PUMCH’s medical service development can be found via this link.

Meanwhile, the Macao Medical Center of PUMCH has recently launched the “Weight Management Joint Clinic”, leveraging its comprehensive multidisciplinary advantages to safeguard residents’ health, which is in line with the action and practice under the Macau SAR Government’s “Healthy Macao Blueprint”.

In addition, the Weight Management Joint Clinic aims to enhance residents’ awareness and ability for proactive health management, as well as to effectively carry out the “Healthy China” initiative and the “Weight Management Year” action set forth in the 2025 Two Sessions, according to a press release issued by the Macao Medical Center of PUMCH.

The Weight Management Joint Clinic will begin providing regular outpatient services this month, with the scope of services covering adult simple obesity, metabolic syndrome (hypertension, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and fatty liver disease), weight abnormalities caused by chronic diseases, preconception weight loss for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), as well as nutritional therapy following weight loss surgery.

The outpatient services are available to children, adolescents and the elderly, among others. – GNM
