The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) raised typhoon signal no. 9 in the neighbouring SAR at 7:20 am today.

At 7 am, Typhoon Wipha was centred about 110 kilometres southeast of Hong Kong and is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour edging closer to the Pearl River Estuary’s vicinity, according to HKO. The observatory will continue to assess the need for issuing T10 signal in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Macau will issue typhoon signal no. 9 between 10 am and noon, according to the city’s Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG). Based on its forecast, updated at 8 am today, the possibility of hoisting T10 signal in Macau is “medium to relatively high”. (Gilbert Humphrey)
