The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issued the neighbouring SAR’s Hurricane Signal No. 10 at 9:20 am as Typhoon Wipha moves closer to the region.

At 9 am, Wipha was centred about 70 kilometres southeast of Hong Kong and is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour edging closer to the Pearl River Estuary’s vicinity, with the typhoon predicted to be closest to Hong Kong in the next couple of hours, according to HKO.

Meanwhile, Macau will raise T9 signal at 11 am, with a medium to relatively high possibility of hoisting typhoon signal no. 10 later today, according to the city’s Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG). (Gilbert Humphrey)
