Filipino-American singer Jessica Sanchez, previously known as the runner-up of American Idol season 11, won America’s Got Talent (AGT) season 20 that concluded on 24 September, two decades after she competed in the show’s inaugural season back in 2006 as a 10-year-old girl.

Sanchez was born in 1995 in California to a Filipino mother from Samal, Bataan and a Mexican American father.

Now married and nine months pregnant with her first child, Sanchez made it to the semi-final in AGT season one but was then eliminated.

Finally winning the competition, she has said that her faith in Jesus carried her through her AGT 2025 journey, according to a report by FaithPot

“My identity is in Christ, and that’s what has kept me steady through all of this,” Sanchez told The Christian Post

“No matter the outcome, I remind myself this is His will, not mine. That’s the only way I’ve been able to do this,” she was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, freestyle rapper Christ Turner and singer Jourdan Blue finished second and third, respectively in this year’s AGT. – GNM
