US toy manufacturing company Mattel has recently introduced its first-ever Barbie doll with down syndrome in celebration of inclusivity and diversity, a commitment that has led the company to produce dolls with prosthetic limbs, vitiligo and no hair. For the new doll, Mattel worked closely with the United States’ National Down Syndrome Society to ensure the doll’s down syndrome features’ accuracy. According to various media reports, the company hopes the new doll will further raise awareness and discussions about down syndrome.
