Brazilian music legend Sérgio Mendes, who is known to have brought bossa nova to international stage, has died at the age of 83.
He died from complications of long Covid at a Los Angeles hospital on 5 September, according to various media reports, citing a statement from the singer’s family.
Mendes, who is also known to the English-speaking world for his version of “Never Gonna Let You Go”, featuring Joe Pizzulo and Leeza Miller, had won three Grammys and was an Oscar nominee during his life.
He had over 55 releases throughout his over six decades of music career.
