The “2nd Child Protection Conference – Working together to safeguard children in Macau: From theory to practice” was held at the University of Saint Joseph’s (USJ) Ilha Verde campus on 9-10 June. Around 250 people attended the event. Organised by the Cradle of Hope Association, the conference was hosted by USJ’s Faculty of Health Sciences and co-organised by the International Ladies Club of Macau (ILCM), as well as 10 academic and social service institutions.
Among these institutions were the Good Shepherd Centre, Christian New Life Fellowship (in Macau), Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office, Caritas Macau, Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau, City University of Macau’s Department of Innovative Social Work, UGAMM Youth Service Team, La De Jovens de Mong-Ha, Paróquia de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, Taipa and the Macau Drug Abusers’ Rehabilitation Association (ARTM).
The conference was aimed at raising the awareness on child protection in Macau, Cradle of Hope Association President Marjory Vendramini (in photo, right) said in the conference’s opening ceremony.
