A female Sumatran rhinoceros was recently born at the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary (SRS) facility in Way Kambas National Park in Indonesia’s Lampung province, weighing about 27 kilogrammes. The baby rhino reportedly stood about 45 minutes after being born and began to walk around the next day, according to various media reports. Sumatran rhinos are the smallest and hairiest of the five extant rhinoceros’ species.
