The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has successfully its “1st Macao International Shorts Film Festival”, which kicked off on 23 March, with the festival’s closing and award ceremonies taking place at the Galaxy International Convention Centre on Friday as Gunnur Martinsdóttir Schlüter “FÁR” received the “Best Short Film Award” while Ellen Wong’s “BUBBLE” won the “Best Macao Short Film”, according to an IC.
A total of 26 short films from across the world competed in the Official Competition Section “New Voices from Horizon” for four awards. Apart from “FÁR” winning the main award, “GREYLANDS” by Charlotte Waltert and Alvaro Schoeck was awarded the “Best Technical Contribution” while Esteban Pedrazza’s “BOGOTÁ STORY” won the “Best Director” and “THE MIRACLE” by Nienke Deutz received the “Innovative Narrative Award”.
In addition, 10 local short films were nominated for the “Best Macao Short Award”, which recognises outstanding local short film works. (Wong Kin Ang)
