Macau’s general and locals’ unemployment rates in the first quarter of this year – 2.1 and 2.7 per cent, respectively – decreased by 0.2 percentage points quarter-on-quarter, while the underemployment rate rose slightly by 0.1 percentage point to 1.5 per cent, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Meanwhile, the labour force living in Macau in that quarter totalled 379,100 with a labour participation rate of 67.6 per cent. The number of total employment (371,100) remained steady quarter-on-quarter but the number of employed Macau residents (284,000) dropped by 2,100.
