Macau has been designated “Preferred Destination 2025” and the host city of the “ECTAA 2025 Macao Summit”, the European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations (ECTAA) announced in a ceremony held on the sidelines of the 12th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE) at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo on friday.
Set to bring member associations of 30 countries to Macau next year, the “ECTAA 2025 Macao Summit” and related initiatives will bring a unique opportunity to showcase the city’s “tourism +” offerings to Europe’s top travel agents and tour operators, helping to expand international visitor source markets. The summit will be hosted by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
Yesterday’s announcement ceremony was presided over by MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) President Pedro Costa Ferreira and ECTAA Vice President Heli Mäki-Fränti, as well as the heads of several Macau travel and tourism related associations.
Meanwhile, the APAVT will also hold its national congress in Macau next year – entitled “APAVT National Congress 2025 in Macao”. Both the summit and the congress will be a big help to the SAR to continue to tap into the European market, as part of the efforts to increase international visitor source markets, boosting tourism economy towards a diversified development.
The 12th MITE is held until today.
