The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) launched online service for permanent resident identity ID card renewal on Macao One Account today to enable permanent residents of the Macau SAR get their documents done in only one visit.
Alternatively, Macau residents can still lodge applications to renew their permanent resident ID cards through the seven government self-service centres and collect documents using self-service kiosks.
With the new online service, Macau SAR permanent resident ID card holders who have reached the age of 18 on the latest issuance date of their ID card can lodge their applications for ID card renewal through the Macao One Account within six months before or after the ID card’s expiry date.
In the Macao One Account, they can proceed to use the “Permanent Resident Identity Card Renewal” service to lodge the application. Applicants are required to use the “photos for identification document” in “My Photos” of the Macao One Account taken in the past 12 months as the ID card photo.
After the documents are produced, applicants must collect the document at the DSI premises in person within office hours, and at the same time go through the remaining procedures that include photo-taking, fingerprint collection and, for applicants who have not reached the age of 25 on the latest issuance date of their ID cards, height measurement.
Meanwhile, the DSI has processed over 40,000 ID card applications since the introduction of the new version of Macau resident ID card, among which 60 per cent of residents used self-service kiosks to lodge their applications. The bureau urges eligible individuals to prioritise lodging applications by electronic means.
Those ineligible to lodge their applications electronically or who have reached the age of 60 have the priority to make an appointment for lodging ID renewal application by the counters.
