Provisional figures from the Public Security Police Force show that visitors arrivals to Macau topped 88.84 million in the first quarter of this year – comprising 6.3 million mainland visitors, 1.818 million Hong Kong visitors, 182,000 Taiwan visitors and 585,000 international visitors.
The total volume of visitors surged by 79.6 per cent compared with the first quarter of last year, while average daily visitor arrivals rebounded to 84.8 per cent of the pre-pandemic level in the first quarter of 2019.
Meanwhile, the average occupancy rate of local hotels recorded by Macau’s Statistics and Census Service between January and February this year reached 85.8 per cent, indicating a continuous upward trend of tourism and visitor arrivals. (Wong Kin Ang)
