Silmy Karim, director general of Indonesia’s Department of Immigration, announced recently that applications for its sport, music and arts visa can now be made on the immigration’s e-visa website and that the visa has been simplified to bring more sporting, music and art events to the country, hence bringing more tourists too.
With the new visa, foreign athletes, artists and other creatives will no longer need to go through the process of attaching labour permits, police record certificates as well as demonstrate five years of work experience and relevant qualifications, given that the applicants will be in Indonesia for a short period of time and, during which, are not conducting work in direct competition with the local workforce, according to a report by The Bali Sun.
