An innovative exhibition entitled “Brilliant Stars – The Civilization of Ancient Shu Immersive Digital Art Experience” was launched at Fantasy Box in MGM Macau in Nape on Wednesday, showcasing an integration of digital art, interactive technology and archaeological narratives.
Jointly organised by Macao Foundation (FM), Executive Committee of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone and China Poly Group, as well as co-organised by the Civil Affairs Bureau of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone, Poly Culture Group and MGM, the exhibition will run until 24 June.
Speaking at the exhibition’s opening ceremony on Wednesday, which was attended by over 120 distinguished guests, FM Chairman Wu Zhiliang emphasised the profound historical significance of the Ancient Shu civilisation dating back thousands of years, which represents an essential chapter in the development of Chinese civilisation.
The Ancient Shu was an ancient kingdom in the area where Sichuan province is located (based on the Chengdu Plain in the western Sichuan basin, with some extension northeast to the upper Han River Valley), which was then conquered by the ancient Chinese state of Qin in 316 BCE, according to Wikipedia.
The exhibition at MGM Macau’s Fantasy Box highlights the brilliance of the cultures of Sanxingdui and Jinsha, which are known to be the sites of Shu culture.
By deploying cutting-edge technologies such as 12K ultra-high-definition visuals, immersive interactions, and macro-level digital imaging, the exhibition reawakens dormant civilisations and reconnects fragmented cultural motifs. He invited audiences to embark on this cultural journey from Macau – a place where Eastern and Western civilisations converge, fostering an ongoing dialogue between cultures and shaping a vibrant global heritage, according to FM.
Meanwhile, the local exhibition is part of the new “One Exhibition, Two Locations” concept, with neighbouring Hengqin hosting the “Treasures of Ancient Shu – Sanxingdui and Jinsha” exhibition, showcasing tangible cultural relics, which concluded on 24 April, having attracted more than 300,000 visitors.
Macau’s Ancient Shu exhibition at MGM Macau is open from 11 am to 7 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and from 10 am to 8 pm on the weekends and on public holidays. Admission is free. Fantasy Box is located on the 2nd floor of MGM Macau. For more information about the exhibition visit MGM’s website. – GNM
