An exhibition titled “Renowned in Business – Macao Merchants in Historical Archives” will be held at the Archives of Macao, with the exhibition’s opening ceremony scheduled to take place at the Archives of Macao’s gallery at 6 pm tomorrow.

Founded as Macao General Archives in 1952, Archives of Macao, which is under the city’s Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), is a general archive located at Tap Seac Square on No. 91-93, Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida, which collects, processes, protects and makes available records about Macau, according to Wikipedia.

It was renamed as Historical Archives of Macao in 1979 and again as its current name in 2016.

This exhibition features a selection of archival materials related to several major merchants in modern Macau from the collection of the Archives of Macau. Using the archives as the framework, the exhibition tells the stories of Macau merchants over the past century and provides a deeper understanding of the process of Macau’s modern commercial and socio-economic development, according to IC.

The exhibition is open to the public from Tuesday to 26 April. The gallery is open from 10 am to 6 pm daily, including public holidays, except Mondays. Admission is free. – GNM
