A public artwork entitled “Macao Pointcloud Garden”, which is part of the city’s current Art Macao 2023, is currently on display at the former Iec Long Firecracker Factory site. The exhibition kicked off yesterday and will run through 10 December. The artwork has been created by French American artist Clement Valla and curated by local curator Lam Sio Man.
The artwork attempts to create a dynamic natural landscape through low technology. The contrast between digital images and real nature allows the public to reflect and seek for new ways of experiencing nature in an era of ubiquitous screens, which can be either from human vision or electronic photosensitive systems, according to the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).
By scanning gardens in 3D, the artist created dynamic digital images of the gardens in low resolution through data analysis and reconstruction, highlighting artificially-created natural landscapes, as well as offering an emotional experience that creates a kind of virtual reality.
