The “Student and Youth Show in Celebration of Macao’s Return to the Motherland cum International Youth Dance Festival” will be held from 20-25 July in celebration of the75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the SAR’s return to the motherland.
The event is co-organised by the city’s Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), SJM Resorts and Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited in compliance with the local government’s strategy of positioning and developing Macau as “One Centre, One Platform, One Base,” according to the DSEDJ.
With the support from all sectors, around 1,500 performers and over 400 volunteers will participate in the event, including Macau teachers and students, as well as young people from around the world, bringing the spectators amazing parade, flashmobs and various other outdoor and indoor performances, the organisers pointed out in a press conference held at the DSEDJ’s premises today.
The event will kick off with the parade on 20 July, which will start from the Ruins of St. Paul’s and end at the Senado Square, followed with flashmobs at the Macao Science Center and Grand Lisboa Palace Macau on 21 July, according to the press conference.
The Student and Youth Show in Celebration of Macao’s Return to the Motherland will take place at the Macau Forum on 22 July. The show will integrate elements such as drama, singing, dancing, Cantonese opera, Peking opera, martial arts and audio-visual multimedia effects.
Over 700 performers comprising local teachers and students as well as youth from the Greater Bay Area will perform together, highlighting the nation’s support towards the SAR since the latter’s return to the motherland.
Meanwhile, the finale show, International Youth Dance Festival 2024, will take place at the Macau Forum on 25 July, featuring a total of 35 dance groups – 13 of them from Europe, Africa, North America, Oceania and other parts of Asia.
The non-local groups include those coming from Greece, Hungary, Portugal, Ghana, Australia, India, Malaysia, Thailand, as well as mainland China and Hong Kong, while the 22 Macau dance groups comprise local school dance groups and dance associations.
Tickets to the two indoor shows “Student and Youth Show in Celebration of Macao’s Return to the Motherland” and “International Youth Dance Festival 2024 – Closing Performances”, are free by registration via the DSEDJ’s website from 10 am tomorrow through 6 pm on 15 July.
Each person is limited to register for two tickets per show – free seating. The bureau will then draw lots and those winning the lot can collect the tickets at the selected location from 17-21 July with the notification message from the bureau and their ID documents. The public can also watch the two indoor shows through live broadcast online.
In addition, there will be artistic performance workshops held at the Luso-Chinesa de Luís Gonzaga Gomes Secondary School on 22 July as well as some outdoor performances at Tap Seac Square on 23 and 24 July. Click this link for complete schedule of the event’s programmes.
