Macau SAR Government has recently announced that the city’s annual cash handout for local residents this year will start on 15 July but with a significant change in the eligibility to receive the benefit.
For the first time since the cash handout, officially called “Wealth Partaking Scheme”, was launched in 2008, will only be received by Macau permanent and non-permanent residents who have stayed in Macau for at least 183 days last year.
All Macau residents can check their eligibility via the Macau One Account, with eligible permanent and non-permanent residents to continue receiving MOP 10,000 and MOP 6,000, respectively, this year.
A total of 717,018 permanent residents and 30,850 non-permanent residents received the cash handout last year – regardless how many days they spent in Macau in the past year. – GNM
