Mainland China is set to reopen its borders and cancel its quarantine measures on 8 January 2023 as the country has recently downgraded Covid-19’s status from a pneumonia to infection. Mainland China’s health authorities have renamed the novel coronavirus pneumonia to novel coronavirus infection.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong has cancelled its vaccine pass scheme, social distancing measure and PCR tests for all arrivals, although mask mandate remains, the neighbouring SAR’s Chief Executive John Lee announced on 28 December.
