The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has increased the number of collection points for large unwanted furniture items from 60 to 136 across the Macau Peninsula, Taipa and Coloane in a bid to improve the facilitation of the public’s disposal of bulky garbage.
The collection points for large unwanted furniture are set up in different districts of the SAR in May, August and November every year.
This month, the public can dispose of unwanted furniture items at the designated collection points from 8 pm to 11 pm from 1 to 7 May.
Among the 136 collection points, 109 are located in the Macau Peninsula, 16 in Taipa and 11 in Coloane, according to the bureau.
IAM calls on the public to comply with the mentioned plan and dispose of their unwanted furniture items properly at the designated time and locations. Offenders may be prosecuted.
The bureau also reminds the public to pay attention to where they place the unwanted furniture items when they dispose of them, to avoid affecting pedestrian and traffic safety. Furthermore, they should place the furniture items securely to avoid accidents.
IAM urges the public to comply with the relevant arrangements and refrain from casually placing the items beside litter bins or on public streets. For more information visit the bureau’s Environment Information Webpage or contact the Civic Service Hotline at 2833 7676.
