The “Murmurs – Storytelling Illustrations by Yang Sio Maan” exhibition kicked off at Taipa Village Art Space on 27 September and will run through 10 November. During her solo exhibition’s launch at the Taipa Village, Yang also launched her first picture book, entitled “Mr. Matos Went to Buy Tomatoes”, which is published by Fizzy Ink Publishing Ltd.

In the exhibition, the artist showcases three collections of illustrations. First, “Mr. Matos Went to Buy Tomatoes” consists of a display of printed picture books, original sketches and an engaging art installation; second, nine giclee prints from selected illustrations Yang recently created for Hong Kong’s Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine; and lastly, a comic – titled “Lemon Tea” – interpretation exploring “small and simple pleasures of daily life”, according to the exhibition’s information published on Taipa Village Macau’s website

Yang is an independent illustrator and visual narrator based in Macau. She is also a part-time lecturer at the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU). Organised by the Taipa Village Cultural Association, the exhibition is supported by Macau’s Cultural Development Fund. The exhibition is open from noon to 8 pm daily.
